Capt. Steve, Irene and Pearl Macek have lived on the tiny Caribbean Island of Nevis for 20 years.
We sailed around the world between 2002-2004, a journey that took us through the Panama Canal and across the Pacific Ocean to French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Tonga, New Zealand, Australia, Bali and into the Indian Ocean to Mauritius and South Africa. We rounded the Cape of Good Hope and sailed to St. Helena and then sailed the South Atlantic back to the Caribbean Sea.

Pearl was 12 when we left and 14 when we returned. She did home schooling for the whole trip and since returning graduated with full honors from her high school in Nevis and is currently attending the University of Puerto Rico, where she is majoring in languages. She hopes to continue her studies in South America upon graduation.
Steve and Irene continue to charter *Star* in Nevis and live at their home "The Monkey House" in the rainforest high on the slopes of Nevis Peak.
They are planning their next trip, to circumnavigate South America, hopefully within the next two years.
